Note: This book has music associated with many of the pages in it that the author has specifically paired with those pages to give a feeling of what was going on before, during or after what is being described on the page (so if you can read and listen to music that is the intention here). This is a true story about my little trip around the world and how it really turned my world upside down. After six years of working since graduating from college, I was tired of my job and just needed to get away. I saw an ad in the Sunday travel section for an around the world trip ticket for a very reasonable sum of money. I followed it up and made my decision. I quit my job, rented out my house and went out to find what the world had to offer. I was unsure of what I would do once I returned but I knew for sure that I didn't want to be a Software Engineer ever again.
In the midst of my travels, I decided to begin planning a concert. Music and me have been together a long time. It started from when I was a young boy and I spent most of my free time in front of the juke box playing old and new songs of all genres. You may ask, "What is a little boy doing in front of a juke box?" Well, that's easy - my dad was a juke box 'programmer' and we had our own juke box at home in the garage. As well, I was the kid in the neighborhood who organized a caroling group each Christmas to canvass the neighborhood. I was in junior high and high school choir. I loved to sing. So choosing to enter into a business that included music didn't seem too far fetched to me.
As you will find out by reading my story, however, I didn't exactly find what I thought I would find. Nor did I come back the same person who had left his home in search of new and exciting adventures. I gained many new friends and lost many who I though were friends but were not.
As you will also find the main setting for my story will be a small island (but as huge as the world in the minds of all Puerto Ricans) in the Caribbean called Puerto Rico or 'Borinquen'. This book is not meant in any way to diminish the greatness of the people of Puerto Rico. I love the people of Puerto Rico and I always will. I love all of Puerto Rico and I always will. In fact as I am writing this piece Puerto Rico is my home y yo soy Puertoriqueño. I am ever grateful that what occurred to me occurred in Puerto Rico so that I might live to tell my story. But the Government and the Police of Puerto Rico - well now, that is another story or maybe this one - you'll have to read to find out.
I hope by reading my story, like me, you too can find a little something new in yourself and bring it out to the world to share. And, if you happened to be a part of my story please let me know through the Contact Us page.
